Industrial Hygienist

Summary This position is located in the Fleet Medicine Directorate – Public Health Department in the Industrial Hygiene Division at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in North Chicago, Illinois. Lovell FHCC is part of a system of facilities throughout Northeastern Illinois and Wisconsin providing medical and dental services to U.S. Military Veterans, Recruits, Active Duty, and eligible beneficiaries. Responsibilities Automated Information Systems Security: Monitor and protect printed and electronic files containing sensitive information, ensuring compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA, and other applicable laws. Guard sensitive information from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or deletion, and follow regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files as set forth in the hospital's Automated Information Systems Users Agreement. Manage information security within areas of responsibility, ensuring system security and confidentiality of sensitive data, and limit employee access to only what is required for duties. Report and address violations of information security as necessary. Customer Service: Meet the needs of customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions. Communicate courteously, tactfully, and respectfully with patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff. Provide consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handle conflict and problems constructively and appropriately. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
