PRIMARY PURPOSE To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary and orderly, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES High Dusting Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter‑clockwise direction around the room – high dust surfaces above shoulder height (lights, curtain tips, vents, ledges). Clean the high duster by gently brushing in a downward direction into the service cart. Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning Using a germicidal solution, work counter‑clockwise to sanitize surfaces below shoulder height (ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trashcans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using the proper solution. Spot‑clean windows. Bathroom Cleaning Wipe down in the following order: above and below the sink, toilet seat and the outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and germicidal solution, paying special attention to the rim. Clean and check soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily, refilling as needed. Empty trash cans, removing liners if liquid is present, wiping the can, and placing a clean liner. Floor Dusting or Vacuuming Using a treated dust mophead, start at the back of the room using the “S” stroke to catch dust on the leading edge. Dust under all furniture and in restrooms, stopping just inside the door. Clean the mophead with the counter brush, sweeping dust into a dustpan and disposing it in the service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back of the room and work toward the door, getting under chairs and furniture. Grounds Care – Outside Areas Clean and check outside areas several times during the day. Tasks include: Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans Police sidewalks, flower beds and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts Spot‑clean spills on sidewalks and remove gum with a scraper Wipe benches, vending machines, lower window ledges, and clean public‑area glass Hi‑dust for dust and cobwebs Police parking lot for trash Public Common Areas Dust mop and spot mop the main hallways, ensuring the glass is cleaned several times per day. Clean planters and keep them free from bird waste inside and out Check for cobwebs; perform high dusting of window areas at least twice per week; inspect all corners and edges for dirt, cobwebs, and debris Food Court – Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables; place chairs back under tables; spot‑clean spills; empty and clean trash cans Remove accumulated dirty trays, wash room, clean with tray power washer; stack clean trays on shelf for recycling Police outside eating areas Floor sanitizing Inspection After completing a room, review cleaning steps mentally and visually check furniture placement. Make corrections to prevent problems or complaints. Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily. Customer Relations and Service Knock lightly on doors before entering if occupied. Be friendly, cheerful, and helpful; answer questions or refer to appropriate person. Report anything broken or out of order to supervisor. Work quietly and reduce noise. Stay in assigned work area as directed by supervisor. Professional Conduct Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance. If work is not finished by shift end, report to supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor or account manager (e.g., floor care – stripping, waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, auto scrub and buffing). Qualifications Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, equipment, and safe work practices. Familiarity with toxic and non‑toxic chemicals per MSDS sheets. Ability To Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate sufficiently with co‑workers and supervisors Operate powered and non‑powered janitorial equipment Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals Maintain physical condition suitable for duties (walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods) Lift/carry items weighing 1–30 lbs, push/pull with both hands and arms, exert 5–35 lbs force Climb stairs and ladders; bend, twist, balance at waist, knees, neck throughout shift Kneel, crouch, crawl for lower‑area cleaning and retrieving supplies Reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment; overhead reaching required throughout shift Use sight, depth perception, hand/eye coordination for equipment and tool use #J-18808-Ljbffr
