Employment Type: Per Diem | Location: Hampton Roads, VA | Shifts Available: Days & Nights

Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

PCU RN Qualifications

• ✅ Valid Virginia RN License
• ✅ At least 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience within the last 4 years
• ✅ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ✅ Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ✅ Recent QuantiFERON-TB Gold test within the last 12 months
• ✅ COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption

Additional credentials may be necessary depending on the specific hospital assignment.

Key Responsibilities

As a PCU RN, your duties will include:

• Providing safe, high-quality nursing care in an acute care environment
• Assessing, monitoring, and documenting patient conditions and treatment responses
• Administering medications, IV therapies, and treatments as per physician orders
• Monitoring cardiac rhythms and utilizing specialized equipment for PCU patients
• Identifying changes in patient conditions and responding appropriately
• Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records
• Adhering to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols
• Providing education to patients and their families
• Adapting professionally to various hospital environments and unit requirements
