The team is comprised of energetic and passionate storytellers with a broad range of interests and strengths .As abreaking newsreporter, you’ll work with this staff to build the skills you need for a career in journalism. You will report on a wide range of high-interest topics -- including crime , public safety and accountability -- for a team at the heart of our newsroom. We’ll help you write with grace, gather high-impact information and advocate for readers. Please include a cover letter, writing samples or links to published stories. This position pays between $50,000 to $60,000 annually. Qualified candidates should have: A bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or related field required A minimum of one year in journalism with a proven ability in reporting and writing required. The ability to work quickly, but with accuracy and good news judgment Ability to develop sources Good understanding of using social media for research and to engage readers Digital storytelling skills and open mind to trying new approaches Relentless curiosity and a good sense of humor Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends Ability to work in the newsroom in Syracuse (this is not a remote position) This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
