Lead Piping Designer

Location: Greer, SC; 6 months temp to hire; Lead Piping Designer; Compensation: $60/hr+ Our client is experiencing significant growth in project demand and is seeking a highly experienced Lead Piping Designer to support and guide their team. This individual will play a key leadership role, overseeing piping design efforts across multiple projects while mentoring and developing a small team of designers. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in piping design within the process/chemical industry, with a strong background in both technical execution and team leadership. This role will be responsible for reviewing and validating design work, ensuring quality and consistency, and providing hands‑on coaching to elevate team performance. While leadership and oversight will be the primary focus, this individual should be comfortable contributing to design production as needed. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee piping design activities across multiple projects in the process/chemical sector Review and check piping deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project and client requirements Mentor, train, and provide daily guidance to a small team of piping designers Establish and maintain quality standards, best practices, and consistency across all design outputs Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and client stakeholders Provide technical direction and resolve complex design challenges Support project execution through occasional hands‑on design contributions Required Qualifications 10+ years of piping design experience within chemical, process, or industrial facilities Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or supervising small design teams Strong background in piping layout, routing, and design review/checking processes Proficiency with CADworx or E3D #J-18808-Ljbffr
