- Meal Preparation: Prepare a variety of breakfast items such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausages, hash browns, pastries, and specialty dishes, following established recipes and dietary requirements
- Cooking Techniques: Utilize multiple cooking methods including frying, poaching, grilling, baking, and steaming to ensure consistent quality
- Kitchen Organization: Set up and maintain food stations, prepare ingredients in advance (mise en place), and ensure smooth workflow during peak breakfast hours
- Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to sanitation standards, monitor food temperatures, handle ingredients safely, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Collaboration: Coordinate with wait staff, line cooks, and kitchen managers to ensure timely and accurate order delivery
- Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient usage, minimize waste, and report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages
- Culinary Knowledge: Proficiency in breakfast recipes, cooking techniques, and dietary-specific meal preparation
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously and work efficiently during high-volume morning service
- Attention to Detail: Ensure consistent taste, presentation, and portion control for all dishes
- Physical Stamina: Comfortable standing for long periods, working in hot and noisy kitchen environments, and managing early morning shifts
- Certifications: ServSafe or HACCP compliance is often required, along with any local food handling certifications
