SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Location: Pulaski County Schools District Wide - Somerset, Kentucky Job Description Qualifications: Kentucky Certificate Job Goal: To help reduce or eliminate communication disorders that interfere with the individual student’s ability to benefit from the district’s educational program. Performance Responsibilities Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of children with communication disorders. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring children with suspected communication disorders. Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of articulation, voice, fluency, and language disorders. Provide speech, language, and hearing screening at regular intervals and at specified levels, to identify children with communication disorders. Assist with appropriate referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community. Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student’s needs. Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate. Serve as a resource by providing professional development and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning communication disorders and classroom follow-through of speech/language programs. Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy. Follow due process as stated in Kentucky regulations. Maintain license by earning continuing education units as required by state law. Perform such other tasks as may be requested by supervisor.
