Position Highlights 12‑hour day shift per week Medicine / Pulmonary Registered Nurses – Job Overview Provides high‑quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely and effective treatment. Barnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and a Magnet hospital. Acute Care Medicine manages patients with a full range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and many other conditions. Multidisciplinary teams support care. Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care; educates patients and families on illness management and home care needs. Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences and barriers. Maintains a constant state of alertness as a safety‑sensitive position.
