Senior Cloud FinOps Architect

Senior Cloud FinOps Architect We are seeking a Senior Cloud FinOps Architect to lead the financial, architectural, and operational rigor of a fast-scaling cloud environment. In this role, you will design and govern the data foundation for cloud cost analytics, establish accountability frameworks, optimize spend at scale, and partner with engineering, finance, and leadership to convert cloud usage into meaningful insights and measurable savings. You’ll set technical direction, implement best practices aligned to the FinOps Framework, and serve as a mentor within a growing FinOps function. Key Responsibilities Own and govern CUR/usage pipelines, schemas, SLAs, and FOCUS-aligned datasets Ensure 99%+ allocation accuracy through tagging/account strategies Build and maintain a trustworthy, scalable FinOps data layer supporting dashboards and insights Establish showback/chargeback processes with monthly billings and dispute resolution Deliver variance analyses, unit economics KPIs, and driver-based forecasting models Develop role-based dashboards and quarterly narratives for executives Create playbooks and automation for rightsizing, scheduling, egress patterns, and storage tiering Partner with platform engineering to land savings opportunities and track verified results Lead anomaly response, spike triage, incident reviews, and preventive guardrails Own SP/RI/CUD planning, renewals, utilization targets, and commercial negotiations Define tagging standards, budgets, alerts, and policy-as-code controls Drive adherence through monitoring, measurement, and corrective actions Set OKRs, manage FinOps backlogs, and run ceremonies that drive momentum Mentor team members and guide adoption of Inform → Optimize → Operate best practices Foster a high-performing community of practice across engineering and finance Qualifications 10+ years across FinOps, Cloud, FP&A, or Platform Engineering 5+ years hands‑on with AWS cost data (CUR, CE, Budgets) Strong SQL and scripting experience (Python preferred) Expertise with data orchestration tools (Glue, Lambda, dbt, Airflow) Demonstrated ownership of commitment strategies (SP/RI/CUD) for large‑scale spend ($>50M) Experience with BI tools (Power BI, QuickSight, Looker) and FinOps/TBM platforms Preferred certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner/Professional; AWS Cloud Practitioner/Solutions Architect Nice to Have Experience with Azure/GCP billing, Snowflake/Databricks optimization, Apptio/TBM Familiarity with Cloud Custodian, Terraform, procurement, or accounting processes (SOX, accruals) About Us We are a forward‑thinking, people‑first technology studio focused on building clarity, efficiency, and operational excellence across cloud environments.
