Middle School Teacher – Math Iredell-Statesville School District – Oakwood Middle School, Statesville, North Carolina Job Details Job ID: 5807361 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 29, 2026 7:03 PM (UTC) Job Description Middle School Classroom Teacher (Grades 6-8) Position Purpose —Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress; addressing specific educational needs of individual students; creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Essential Performance Responsibilities Develop, administer, and evaluate the school middle school curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives. Promote a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate plans into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual small-group instruction as needed. Instruct students in responsible citizenship principles and other subject matters specified by applicable laws and district regulations. Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research. Organize and maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents. Ensure student conduct conforms with school and district policies; establish and maintain standards of behavior needed for a functional learning atmosphere. Coordinate with other middle school staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees. Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies; maintain inventory records. Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities, including those involving school transportation. Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs. Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction based on learning styles. Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts across subjects. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action plan formulation. Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws and regulations. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation for professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Qualifications Profile Certification/License: North Carolina certification as a Middle School Teacher. Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation. Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment. Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
