Working Title: Personnel Supervisor I – HR/Transactions Unit – Metropolitan State Hospital Classification: Personnel Supervisor I Position Details: Job Code #: JC-511339 | Position #: 487-543-1304-XXX Salary: $5,695.00 – $7,129.00 (New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable) # of Positions: 1 Work Location: Los Angeles County Telework: In Office Job Type: 12 Month Limited Term – Full Time Facility: DSH – Metropolitan Job Description and Duties METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL – Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County. This Position is Limited Term for 12 months. This position may be terminated at any time or may become permanent at a later date. Applications will be reviewed on the 1st and 15th of each month; the advertisement remains open until filled. The successful candidate will report under the general direction of the Personnel Supervisor II and supervise a staff of Personnel Specialists performing personnel/payroll transaction functions. Functions include functional supervisory of lower-level Personnel Specialists in geographically separated locations; developing and providing training and technical assistance to internal and departmental staff; providing knowledge and guidance related to personnel documentation in relation to health/dental benefits, Affordable Care Act System; communicating with other agencies. Payroll responsibilities include documenting master/supplemental/overtime pay, garnishments and accounts receivables, maintaining records involving keying leave balances, maintaining probation hours and individual development plans, filing miscellaneous documentation pertaining to Industrial Disability Leave, Non-Industrial Disability Leave and State Disability Leave, and updating activity reports for position control. Provide new employee orientation training as needed, assist in reception desk coverage, and other assignments as assigned. Required professional appearance and demeanor under pressure and multiple deadlines. The incumbent must possess self-starting abilities; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; problem solving, and organizational and processing abilities; be dependable to manage a heavy workload and have experience in human resources.
