Event Marketing Manager

Location: Austin, TX - Hybrid, 3 days per week in office Employment Type: Full-time Experience: 3-5 years in Events / Field Marketing Travel: Approximately 20-30% SG Talent is partnering with a growing B2B technology company to hire an Events Marketing Manager to take ownership of its field and events marketing strategy. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who has genuinely run events end to end - from deciding which events to invest in, negotiating sponsorships and vendors, and managing budgets through to on-site execution and post-event pipeline reporting. This is not an events coordinator position . You'll have real budget authority, direct vendor responsibility and accountability for the commercial impact of the events program. What You'll Own Build and recommend the annual events calendar based on audience fit, past performance, strategic value and expected return Own industry conferences and sponsorships from initial evaluation through negotiation, contracting and execution Negotiate sponsorship packages, vendor agreements and commercial terms Manage booth positioning, staffing, logistics and on-site delivery Own event spend within agreed budgets and make day-to-day investment decisions Develop and run executive dinners and roundtables for senior industry leaders Partner with sales leadership on guest strategy, targeting and follow-up Coordinate partner events and co-marketing activations with strategic technology and distribution partners Support operational delivery of a major annual client summit, including: Hotel room blocks and attrition management Food and beverage counts and guarantees Staffing plans Swag and event materials Build repeatable event playbooks, runbooks and operating processes Measure event performance through qualified meetings, cost per opportunity, pipeline contribution and ROI Work closely with internal marketing, sales and external event partners to continually improve the events program What We're Looking For 3-5 years of experience directly running events , rather than primarily supporting them Experience owning B2B conferences, trade shows, customer events, user conferences or similar large-scale activations Strong experience with multi-day events Hands-on experience managing hotel room blocks, attrition exposure and food & beverage guarantees Experience managing external event producers, agencies or specialist vendors Demonstrable ownership of meaningful event budgets Strong vendor selection and contract negotiation experience Comfortable making commercial decisions and negotiating directly with suppliers and partners A strong understanding of how events contribute to pipeline and revenue Comfortable reporting on metrics such as qualified meetings, cost per opportunity and event ROI Working knowledge of HubSpot and Salesforce , including campaign reporting, segmentation and lead routing Comfortable working directly with senior executives, sales leaders and client stakeholders Austin-based and comfortable travelling approximately 20-30% throughout the year Nice to Have Experience within fintech, financial services, compliance or another regulated industry Sponsorship sales or exhibitor-side experience Existing relationships with venues, vendors or event partners in Austin or major conference markets Experience supporting a large annual customer or user conference The marketing team actively uses AI tools as part of its day-to-day workflow. That includes event research, vendor comparison, attendee research, briefing materials, post-event reporting and budget analysis. We're particularly interested in candidates who are already comfortable using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or similar platforms to make their work faster, more analytical and more effective. What Success Looks Like In your first few months, you'll take ownership of the upcoming events calendar, evaluate where the company should continue investing, identify opportunities to renegotiate or improve existing commitments, and successfully run activations from start to finish. Longer term, you'll build a highly organized, commercially accountable events program where investment decisions are driven by evidence and every major activation has a clear connection to pipeline and business impact.
