The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides skilled nursing care in an ambulatory surgical setting, focusing on orthopedic procedures. The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides skilled nursing care in an ambulatory surgical setting, focusing on orthopedic procedures. The role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective perioperative care. Strong clinical skills, communication, and teamwork are essential, with at least two years of nursing experience required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs during surgical procedures.
- Administer medications and assist with anesthesia as needed.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to plan and implement patient care.
- Maintain sterile field and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Prepare operating room and surgical instruments for procedures.
- Document patient care activities and surgical events accurately.
- Float within nursing scope to meet facility needs as required.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in OR or surgical settings.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in ambulatory OR, hybrid, trauma, or general surgical settings.
- Familiarity with orthopedic surgical procedures and equipment.
- Ability to float across different OR specialties.
- May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Open to accommodating block schedules upon discussion.
- Return to Office (RTO) ideally limited to no more than 5 days.
- Work environment is ambulatory surgical center focused on orthopedic surgery.
- Five days per week, 8-hour day shifts.
- Shift assignments based on facility needs and may include block scheduling.
