Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS Must-Have Skills/Experience: Requires critical thinking skills. Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Ability to take appropriate action is required. Description: This position is in a 225-bed specialty care hospital. The facility includes a Heart and Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain and Spine, Rehabilitation, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine, Women’s Health, and Pediatrics services. It is a regional leader in imaging, surgery, and laboratory services. This medical/surgical unit cares for adult and geriatric populations, ages 18-125. The patient-to-nurse ratio is between 5:1 and 6:1. Common equipment includes telemetry monitors, IV pumps, bladder scanners, and digital vital sign machines. The electronic health record system used is Cerner. This role demands good communication and teamwork skills. Experience on a medical-surgical unit is preferred. Common diagnoses and treatments encountered in the unit align with general medical and surgical care. The dress code includes galaxy blue scrubs, while excessive jewelry should be avoided. Fingernails should be kept clean and within compliance with hand hygiene policies. Visible tattoos must not be offensive and should be covered.
