This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Position PurposeThe Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing daily department operations, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, food safety, customer service, inventory management, and associate development. This position assists in driving sales, controlling shrink, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the department.Key Responsibilities Department OperationsAssist in managing daily operations of the Meat Department.Ensure meat cases and displays remain stocked, attractive, and properly merchandised.Monitor product quality, freshness, rotation, and inventory levels.Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control activities.Support department productivity and operational efficiency initiatives.Leadership & Team DevelopmentProvide leadership, coaching, and direction to department associates.Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and customer service.Monitor associate performance and provide ongoing feedback.Act as department leader in the absence of the Meat Manager.Customer ServiceDeliver outstanding customer service and ensure customer needs are met promptly.Assist customers with product selection, preparation recommendations, and special orders.Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.Promote a customer-focused culture throughout the department.Ensure department associates provide friendly, knowledgeable service.Product Quality & MerchandisingMonitor product presentation and merchandising standards.Ensure proper product rotation and freshness controls are followed.Maintain visually appealing service cases and sales displays.Support the execution of promotional programs and seasonal merchandising plans.Ensure accurate pricing and signage throughout the department.Inventory & Shrink ManagementAssist with inventory control, receiving, and stock replenishment.Monitor sales trends and support proper ordering practices.Help minimize shrink through proper handling, rotation, and inventory management.Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.Support accurate inventory counts and department audits.Food Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.Monitor proper handling, storage, and processing procedures.Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and preparation spaces.Ensure associates follow safety procedures and company policies.Support department inspections, audits, and corrective action plans.Financial PerformanceSupport achievement of department sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink goals.Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities for improvement.Assist in implementing strategies to increase sales and profitability.Support labor planning and productivity initiatives.Review department performance metrics and participate in action planning.We also provide a variety of benefits including:Competitive wages paid weeklyAccess to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with StreamAssociate discountsHealth and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).
