Payroll Technician

Overview


The role of Payroll Technician plays a crucial part in accurately recording employee work hours and ensuring strict adherence to Compensation policies. The Payroll Technician serves as a point of contact for inquiries, collaborates on optimizing timekeeping processes, and contributes significantly to streamline payroll operations with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency


Responsibilities
• Generate and distribute weekly time reports to departments for the review of employee timecards
• Input various payroll documents, including Deferred Comp forms, leave slips, Fin 2s, general deductions, W-4s, and direct deposits
• Offer customer service to employees addressing payroll concerns or issues with incorrect paychecks
• Support in processing travel advances and expense reports, perform Safety Boot reconciliation, and handle various reports, including but not limited to Workman's Comp/Wage Statement and Verification of Employment
• Scan and index payroll forms
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned


Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time- Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) Years of Experience


Licenses and Certifications


Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating


A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
