Staff Pharmacist - Long-Term Care Pharmacy
Location: Ankeny, IA
Setting: Closed-Door Long-Term Care Pharmacy
Compensation: $130,000-$140,000 annually
Wednesday - Tuesday Rotation
Wed, Thu, Fri, Mon, Tue: 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM
On-Call: 2:00 AM - 6:00 AM
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
On-Call: Overnight
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
On-Call until 6:00 AM Monday
One full week off between rotations
We are seeking a licensed Staff Pharmacist to join a high-volume Long-Term Care pharmacy serving skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. This role is responsible for prescription verification, order entry, cycle-fill review, fulfillment oversight, and after-hours pharmacist coverage.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, clinically sound, and comfortable working in a fast-paced closed-door pharmacy environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesVerify prescriptions for accuracy, legality, and clinical appropriateness
Perform PV1 and PV2 verification
Complete order entry and cycle-fill reviews
Support medication fulfillment and dispensing operations
Ensure compliance with all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
Provide pharmacist on-call coverage during assigned shifts
Respond to medication-related questions from healthcare providers and facility staff
Monitor medication inventory and assist with product sourcing when needed
Document and report medication errors or discrepancies
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support workflow efficiency
PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
Active Iowa Pharmacist License in good standing
1+ year of pharmacist experience preferred
Long-Term Care, Retail, Hospital, or Closed-Door Pharmacy experience considered
Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment
Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Pharmacy software and order-entry experience preferred
