Facilities ManagerThe Facilities Manager is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the full lifecycle of infrastructure for BAE Systems' Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business located at either Maple Grove, Minnesota or Sterling Heights, Michigan, overseeing multiple regional sites. Operating within industrial manufacturing and office environments, this role ensures infrastructure readiness, operational continuity, and long-term capital stewardship. The scope encompasses facilities maintenance & operations, engineering, strategic space planning, regulatory compliance, capital project oversight, and organizational leadership. The successful leader will transform the CMS facilities function into a value-driven business partner, balancing operational discipline and technical depth with financial rigor and strategic foresight.Leadership Philosophy The Facilities Manager is expected to instill the following core attributes across the organization:Safety First: Modeling a "safe, reliable, and compliant" culture as the absolute priority.Ownership & Accountability: Operating with a high sense of urgency and total responsibility for outcomes.Technical Excellence: Promoting root-cause analysis and modern, predictive maintenance practices.Mission-Centric Collaboration: Positioning facilities as a critical operational enabler for the broader business.Continuous Improvement: Leveraging data and KPIs to mitigate failures and maximize asset readiness.Key Responsibilities Strategic LeadershipServe as the primary facilities liaison to Site Executives, leadership teams, and functional partners.Align facility operations and sustainability initiatives with CMS and enterprise-level strategic goals.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, multi-site team of exempt and non-exempt professionals.Advise senior leadership on infrastructure risks, long-term capacity needs, and capital investment priorities.Operational OversightEnsure building systems, grounds, and manufacturing infrastructure remain safe and operational in a 24/7/365 environment.Oversee all site services, including maintenance, housekeeping, landscaping, waste management, and recycling, etc.Direct preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs utilizing CMMS/IWMS tools.Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards.Serve as Incident Commander during emergencies and lead Business Continuity planning.Capital Program & Financial ManagementExecute multi-year capital strategies and annual operating budgets.Lead the planning and delivery of complex, large-scale capital projects.Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM), data dashboards, and KPIs to track and communicate performance.Lead and/or partner with Capital Project Managers to ensure all installations meet operational, safety, and maintenance standards.Space Planning & Vendor GovernanceOptimize facility utilization and occupancy planning using TRIRIGA.Manage the end-to-end vendor lifecycle: developing Statements of Work (SOW), overseeing competitive bidding, and mitigating third-party risks.Collaborate effectively with union representatives and bargaining unit employees.Manage owned and leased facility portfolios, landlord relationships, and site-level contractual obligations.Enterprise-Level StewardshipOversee facilities operations at scale, supporting distributed manufacturing and office environments.Champion reliability-centered practices and the standardization of processes across the enterprise.Foster cross-functional partnerships across Manufacturing, Engineering, Security, IT, and Real Estate.Drive sustainability and resiliency by identifying energy reduction opportunities and leading employee engagement in resource-reduction goals.The ideal candidate possesses a commanding executive presence and remains composed under pressure, making decisive, high-stakes decisions with confidence. This leader is visible in the field, dedicated to talent development, and committed to ensuring resilient operations that enable the CMS mission.Required Education, Experience, & SkillsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.Experience: 10+ years of progressive facilities or engineering management experience within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, or defense environments.Leadership: Proven track record of managing multi-site teams and geographically distributed facilities portfolios.Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and fluid systems within industrial infrastructure.Financial Acumen: Experience managing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets.Communication: Ability to distill complex technical and business issues for executive-level audiences.Operational Skills: Proficiency in interpreting architectural/engineering drawings and managing vendor contracts.Availability: Willingness to serve as an on-call lead for emergency response.Specialized Experience: Experience managing bargaining units, multiple shifts, and multi-site operations.Preferred Education, Experience, & SkillsAdvanced Degree: Master's degree (MBA or Engineering).Certifications: CFM (Certified Facility Manager), CEM (Certified Energy Manager), PMP (Project Management Professional), or CPMM (Certified Plant Maintenance Manager).Sector Experience: Experience within DoD environments or federally regulated sites.Methodologies: Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, or Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).Project Scale: Experience managing multiple small/medium/large-scale construction projects simultaneously.Strategic Frameworks: Experience with Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) models and Organizational Change Management.Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $134640 - $228888 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
