Facility Supervisor - Recreational Sports

Definition and Purpose Under the supervision of theCoordinatorI-Facility Operations(Recreation Center)the Facility Supervisor(Recreation Center)is responsible forthe safe and smooth operation of the facilities and programs.The Facility Supervisor has the responsibility of ensuring that ASI facilities areoperationally safe. The Facility Supervisor is the first responder for injuries, the leader in case of an emergency, and provides on-site supervision of student staff. In the absence of full-time staffor a Student Manager, the Facility Supervisor has managerial responsibility and general oversight of ASI programs in the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and DoerrFamilyField.The Facility Supervisor is expected to practice soundjudgment andmake good decisions inrepresentingASI. This position is based at the Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. EducationalRequirements and Qualifying Experience Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 units. Supervisory experiencepreferred. Facility security experiencepreferred. Possesses excellentorganizational andplanning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Maintain First Aid, CPR and AED Certification. Must hold a CA Driver’s License with a driving record acceptableto ASI’s insurance underwriters. Ability to work with diverse populations and those with speciallimitations or needs. Experience withprogramparticipationpreferredRecreation Center. Experience with administration, supervision,advisingor public relations. General knowledge of program servicesof the Recreation Center. Experience in leadership or management. Program specific experience preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide general oversight ofMembership ServicesStudentAssistants,ProShop StudentAssistants, IntramuralSportsstudent staff, andLifeguards Provide management authority and student staff supervision in the absence of full-time staff members Supervise program participants’behavior, and appropriately intervene when needed Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers Demonstrate awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity Adhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures Commitment to student development and leadership Safety Direct the evacuation of the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field during emergencies. Maintain a calm and focused demeanor to instill confidence in participants and staff while efficiently and professionally managing emergencies. Respond to first aid situations with confidence, addressing both minor injuries and life-threatening situations effectively. Document all injuries and incidents at ASI facilities with accuracy and thoroughness. Contact University Police when on-site personnel are unable to resolve problems. Identifyand address safety issues or concerns, ensuringtimelyresolution and reporting. Supervise ASI programs and events to safeguard the well-being of staff and participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field while understanding and adhering to their unique policies and procedures, educating participants and staff on these guidelines, and effectively explaining both the policies and the rationale behind them. Open, close, and secure facilities at prescribed times and inspect facility for safety and maintenance concerns Provide breaks for student staff members, serve as a backup for staff members who cannot attend work, and use the phone liststo cover for no-show employees Compile daily user statistics, facility reports, and document all injuries and incidents Communicate with Facilities staff for maintenance and custodial concerns Monitor event use. Understand crowd control, andhave the ability torecognize potential event problems before they occur Make regular rounds in supervising ASI’s facilities to ensure that activities are being conducted safely and appropriately Set up and take down special equipment (e.g.volleyball nets, wallyball, audio visual equipment, etc.) at the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and DoerrFamilyField Provide inventory control for the storage rooms Act as an ASI representative at all timeswith an extensive knowledge of ASI and University programs,facilitiesand services Assistother ASI staff areas with the preparation and operationof their program area as needed Provide a welcoming and inclusive environmentfor all staff and participants Provide quality customer service for all staff and customers Attend at least two hours of safety and evacuation training per quarter for the Recreation Center Ability to receive constructivecriticism andlearn from incidentsto ensure continual development Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, workshops, and retreats Staffarerequired towork a minimum of 1 shift per weekatTheCal PolyRecreation Center during the academic year. Other Duties and Responsibilities The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and isrequiredtocomply withthe requirementsset forth inASI policy as a condition of their employment. Other duties as assigned. Period of Employment Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at anytimeand ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause. Background Check Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) isrequiredfor employment. ASI will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current ASI employee who was conditionally offered the position. Compensation and Hours HourlyPay Rate:$17.40per hour Hourly Pay Range: $17.40 per hour - $17.40per hour Location: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. Position requires a minimum of two consecutive terms of work availability. Position may require working late nights, weekends, and holidays.
