Assistant Produce Department Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Produce Department Manager is responsible for supporting the direction and supervision of the Produce Department Manager in all functions and activities of Produce Department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to ensure and support that the work shifts of all department personnel contribute to the financial best interests of the store.

Description

• Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
• Assists the Department Produce Manager with the successful operation of the department
• Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services provided
• Shared responsibility for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the department
• Receives, stores, and stocks a wide variety of products
• Work directly with the Department Produce Manager in ordering products to meet the needs of the produce department based on past and projected sales
• Pulls out of date product from the produce areas
• Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
• Be actively involved with teaching, mentoring, and educating associates to help them be successful members of the team
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Department Manager and/or Store Manager
• Consistent and daily interaction with store associates, customers, and vendors
• Travel Required: No

• Store: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)

Skills

• Specialized Knowledge: Basic computer skills
• Special Skills: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Physical abilities: Requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to: Regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries

• 5-7 years of prior grocery operations or retail experience preferred
