Position Overview
Drives commercial vehicles requiring a CDL Class B license to transport building materials to and from designated locations throughout Hawaii. Ensures deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all federal and state regulations while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles requiring a CDL Class B license in a safe and efficient manner.
- Deliver and off-load building materials at customer job sites and company locations.
- Collect payment for goods delivered and delivery charges when required.
- Maintain driver logs and records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain communication with supervisors regarding delivery schedules and instructions.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water levels.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Perform minor roadside emergency repairs, such as changing tires, replacing light bulbs, installing tire chains, and other basic maintenance.
- Properly secure loads using straps, chains, blocks, ropes, and other cargo securement devices.
- Follow all DOT, company safety, and operational procedures.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and coworkers.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Hawaii Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B).
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred.
- Must provide a current driving abstract.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
