The Department of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a full time Physical Therapist 1 to work in Miami, FL.
The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy and wellness services to patients and clients who have impairments, functional disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. Moreover, this employee helps patients and clients restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist I collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
Core Job Functions
- Evaluates new patients, establishes goals, and develops appropriate treatment plans.
- Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions daily.
- Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions and provides instructions for home activities.
- Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggests revisions in treatment.
- Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
- Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
- Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.
- Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for learning programs, monitors effectiveness, and adapts programs accordingly.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Master's degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Experience:

- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy preferred
Certification and Licensing:
Licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Florida
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices in the field of physical therapy.
Knowledge of local, state, federal laws and regulations pertaining to physical therapy.
Ability to plan the objectives, approach and work plan to accomplish goals in accordance with professional and departmental standards.
Ability to supervise personnel in a manner conducive to effective performance and fostering high morale.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Bachelor degree. Physical Therapist license required.
