Traffic Control Supervisor

The Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible for leading King Asphalt's traffic control operations on roadway construction, paving, milling, and maintenance projects. This position supervises traffic control crews, coordinates daily work activities, and ensures all traffic control is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with MUTCD, OSHA, South Carolina DOT (SCDOT) requirements, and King Asphalt safety standards. The Traffic Control Supervisor works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and customers to support safe work zones while delivering quality service to our clients. Leadership & Supervision Plan and supervise the daily activities of traffic control crews. Assign work and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Train, mentor, and evaluate traffic control employees. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive safety culture. Ensure crews have the proper equipment, materials, and vehicles for each project. Traffic Control Operations Oversee the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic control devices. Coordinate lane closures, detours, road closures, and work zone setups for paving and roadway projects. Review traffic control plans and ensure they are properly implemented in the field. Monitor work zones and make adjustments to maintain safe traffic flow. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with MUTCD, OSHA, SCDOT requirements, and King Asphalt safety policies. Conduct daily safety meetings and jobsite inspections. Ensure employees use proper PPE and follow safe work practices. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary. Maintain traffic control equipment, including: Road signs Drums Arrow boards Temporary traffic signals Monitor inventory levels and request additional materials as needed. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and ready for deployment. Education High school diploma or GED required. Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic control, roadway construction, or highway maintenance. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Experience supporting asphalt paving, milling, grading, or roadway construction operations is preferred. Licenses & Certifications Valid driver's license required. CDL preferred. ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification preferred or the ability to obtain. King Asphalt, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
