About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in Texas or compact Certifications: Current BLS Certification required Must-Have: Current STABLE certification required from recognized course Description: The competent Nurse in a similar clinical setting practices independently. Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to focus on long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies including leader of self or others. Consistent with nursing scope and standards, provides care utilizing the nursing process. Includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Uses appropriate protocol to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources for patient care. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary. Experience in a perinatal setting preferred.
