About the Position

• Perform diagnostic X-ray and radiographic examinations according to physician orders.
• Position patients correctly and operate X-ray equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort, safety, and privacy.
• Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination orders before procedures.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and use appropriate shielding and exposure techniques.
• Maintain accurate patient and examination records in the EMR/RIS.
• Prepare and maintain radiology equipment and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and repeat examinations when necessary.
• Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during diagnostic procedures.
• Follow infection-control and sterile techniques when applicable.
• Properly handle, label, and document imaging studies.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain compliance with hospital, state, and regulatory standards.
• May perform additional imaging procedures such as portable X-rays, fluoroscopy, or surgical imaging depending on facility needs and credentials.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED – typically required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology/Radiography program.
• Current ARRT (R.T.) certification/registration – commonly required.
• Current state Radiologic Technologist license/certification as required by the state.
• Current BLS/CPR certification – commonly required.
• Clinical experience in hospital or diagnostic imaging settings preferred/required depending on the position.
• Knowledge of radiation safety, patient positioning, anatomy, and radiographic techniques.
• Ability to operate diagnostic imaging equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong communication, patient-care, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare
