Union/Work Year: Professional Technical; 12-month; 260 days Benefits: This job has the full range of benefits offered by Tacoma Public Schools SUMMARY This position serves as a bridge between customer needs and technical solutions. The position analyzes technology systems, services, and related business processes; gathers and documents business and functional requirements; supports technology projects and application initiatives; and develops end-user documentation, training materials, and communications. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists with mapping and documenting workflows, procedures, guidelines, and standards that support business practices across District departments and academic units. Analyzes business needs, requirements, data, and processes by interviewing end users and technical staff; documents findings and recommendations; and assists with feasibility reviews, solution evaluations, and vendor assessments. Collaborates with vendors, departments, and user groups to gather information, clarify business needs, and support solution planning; attends meetings and work sessions; and applies established best practices. Maintains a working knowledge of assigned systems and software; reviews new releases and features for potential operational impact or benefit; and contributes to process improvement efforts. Supports assigned technology projects by coordinating meetings, documenting decisions and action items, tracking project activities, and assisting with stakeholder communications. Coordinates assigned work activities with project teams, departments, vendors, and stakeholders to support successful implementation of technology initiatives. Assists with developing user materials, training handouts, and communications related to assigned technology systems, services, and procedural changes. Prepares and delivers written and verbal updates regarding assigned analyses, projects, and technology initiatives to staff, departments, and administrators. OTHER JOB DUTIES Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or assigned. Assists appropriate department staff during peak workloads and absences; provides backup assistance for other technical support staff for special projects when assigned. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporarybasis. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work. CONDITIONS Experiences frequent interruptions; is exposed to video display equipment and confidential information; may work in confined areas; may be required to work extended and/or irregular hours; and regularly travels between District sites. Employees must be able to meet the transportation requirements of the position. Requires the ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile and move/lift objects up to 20 pounds. MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS EducationandExperience Associate's degree in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, or a related field, or completion of a comparable vocational-technical program; and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing business, systems, technology, or process analysis, or related work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the position. Licenses/SpecialRequirements Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance. AllowableSubstitution Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated by the Human Resources department for comparability.
