Manager of Strategic Pricing

Position Overview The Manager of Strategic Pricing works closely with Firm attorneys to support day‑to‑day pricing needs for new and existing clients and matters. The Manager provides guidance on alternative fee arrangements, budget development, and aligns client needs with the Firm’s business objectives. The Manager advises partners and senior staff on pricing strategies and provides insights into market trends. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Chief Pricing Officer to drive pricing department process improvements, partner education, internal and external communication strategies, and materials development. Supervise, manage, educate, and mentor the firm’s Pricing Analysts. Prepare templates and financial pricing models to provide partners with projected outcomes for alternative pricing arrangements. Oversee pricing model development with Pricing Analysts, interface with partners, and facilitate efficient workflow. Develop, negotiate, and implement fee arrangements that meet client budgets and internal firm requirements. Support partners in client pricing conversations. Develop and maintain pricing databases and tools using historic data for more accurate fee estimates during pitches. Provide support to partners for pricing requests, including fee estimates, pricing approaches, and fee communication. Establish pricing metrics to improve fee proposals and pricing team initiatives. Review billing guidelines, fee arrangements, and client terms for compliance with firm policies. Identify and develop fee arrangements for key practice areas and industries. Track competitive market data and pricing trends by region, practice area, or other differentiators. Stay current on trends and recommend updates to pricing models. Support the firm’s annual rate‑setting process and administer billing rates across all offices. Design and implement reporting systems to assist partners in monitoring and forecasting client engagements against budgets. Required Education, Knowledge & Experience Bachelor’s degree required. ALPP or PMP qualifications valued. Minimum five years of strategic financial/pricing analysis and reporting in a law firm, corporate legal department, litigation financing environment, or a professional services firm. Supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrable knowledge of the practice and business of law. Experience with alternative pricing structuring, portfolio management, and financial engineering/modelling. Outstanding verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to address large groups. Experience leading process‑improvement activities and implementing project‑management disciplines. Knowledge of Aderant or other law‑firm practice management tools. Strong technical skills: experience with AI tools, SQL, advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with data‑visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) desired. Advanced proficiency in developing and maintaining pricing tools and databases. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 – $165,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, skill set, and geographic location.
