Forklift Operator I

Description Summary/Objective The forklift operator position performs all tasks involved in the production of the company’s OCTG goods. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Supervisor Responsibilities None Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. All personal protective equipment (PPE) must be inspected by the employee and worn upon direction of supervisors, managers, and the safety manager. Participate in mandatory safety or PPE training and notify their supervisor when new PPE is necessary. Maintain a clean, neat and groomed personal appearance to reflect a positive image of themselves and the company. Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload OCTG goods and delivers and moves them to and from storage areas, machines and loading trucks, in designated storage areas. Obtains a copy of production paperwork and transports material or equipment to designated Safely moves material around the facility Stacks material in the correct storage area, following inventory control instructions Checks that all loads are secure Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the trucks battery and lubricating equipment Notify supervisor of any mechanical, leaking or material issues in a timely fashion. Coordinate and expedite repair/assembly operations with Inspection Manager. Evaluate self-work to ensure compliance with work instructions and standards. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, heat, cold, rain, wind and a variety of other extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to portion, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Work Schedule This is a full-time non-exempt hourly position, and the days of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends and/or holidays may be scheduled. Employee may be scheduled to work overtime and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED is preferred. Clean driving record preferred. Forklift certification per OSHA standards preferred.
