Lab – PhlebotomistAs a Phlebotomist in a fast-paced clinical environment, you'll help ensure accurate, timely specimens for laboratory testing. This role focuses on drawing quality blood samples, maintaining specimen integrity, and creating a calm, confidence-building experience for patients. If you enjoy hands-on patient care and precise lab processes, this is an ideal opportunity to use your venipuncture skills and attention to detail every day.ResponsibilitiesPrepare specimens for laboratory testing by following established procedures and patient/collection protocolsDraw quality blood samples using straight needles and/or butterfly needlesGreet patients and treat all patients/callers with courtesy; create an atmosphere of trust and confidenceExplain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly and professionally as requiredReduce patient anxiety by maintaining a calm environment before, during, and after collectionCollect specimens and ensure correct processing, including labeling specimens, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by test orderMatch laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify test requisitions/computer labels against the script to support 100% accuracyPackage specimens for transport and store specimens according to required temperature and protocolDemonstrate proficiency in proper collection methods and processing for all specimen typesMaintain compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations, including recording maintenance data and completing decontamination as requiredAttend annual department trainingsAnswer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries, as neededUpdate patient information and perform other duties as assignedRequired SkillsExperience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital settingAbility to label specimens accurately and follow established procedures for collection, processing, and transportStrong knowledge of specimen handling steps, including centrifuging, splitting, and freezing based on test ordersUnderstanding of how to match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify orders to support correct specimen identificationFamiliarity with laboratory environment expectations, including decontamination and maintaining safety standardsProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work effectively as a team player in a busy settingAbility to sit or stand for long periods of timeAbility to lift up to 20 poundsAdditional Skills & RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDValid phlebotomy certification for the state where employed; certification is required in CA, LA, NV, and WAMinimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting; 0–2 years of experienceReliable transportation with at least 4 years of licensed driving experience and a valid driver's license issued in the state of residenceExcellent patient interaction skills in person and by phoneStrong attention to detail and the ability to work independentlyMust be willing to travel throughout assigned geography about 100% of the timeSpanish-speaking candidates preferredStep into a role where precision in phlebotomy and care for patients directly supports laboratory testing.
