Residential HVAC Project Manager

The Residential HVAC Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of residential heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning projects from start to finish. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to company quality standards while providing exceptional communication to homeowners, builders, subcontractors, and internal teams. The PM must manage multiple projects simultaneously and reports directly to the Sales & Installation Manager. Below is a list of Key Responsibilities and qualifications for the role. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Coordination Review project scope, contract documents, blueprints, and specifications prior to job start. Develop project schedules, labor plans, and material/equipment lists. Coordinate with installation teams to ensure they have all required information, equipment, and support. Coordinate with Installation Manager for scheduling and labor requirements. Site Management & Execution Conduct site visits before, during, and after installation to ensure accuracy and quality. Identify field issues and work with installers, technicians, or subcontractors to resolve them quickly. Ensure work complies with all local codes, permits, and manufacturer requirements. Oversee and manage installation teams and personnel. Troubleshoot and coordinate resources from other departments. Customer & Builder Communication Serve as primary point of contact for homeowners, builders, and GC partners throughout the project. Provide regular updates regarding project progress, timelines, and any changes. Manage expectations and maintain strong working relationships to support customer satisfaction and repeat business. Track project budgets, change orders, and cost deviations. Approve invoices, manage labor allocation, and ensure accurate job costing. Document project progress in the company’s project management platforms (CRM, scheduling software, etc.). Close out projects with accurate documentation, warranty information, and final walkthroughs. Quality Control & Safety Ensure all installations meet company standards and manufacturer specifications. Conduct final inspections and verify / document system start‑up and performance. Promote and enforce jobsite safety practices. Promote and assist in training of installers. Provide feedback regarding all products, services, installations and repairs to help improve customer satisfaction. Inform the Sales & Installation Manager and/or the General Manager of any adverse activities on jobs affecting the Company’s operations and/or reputation. Qualifications Education Minimum High School, Trade School diploma or equivalent. Certifications / Licenses Valid MA driver’s license EPA Certification Required 3+ years of HVAC installation, service, or project management experience (residential preferred). Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, duct design, piping, controls and installation practices. Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills. Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Proficiency with project management software, email, and digital documentation. Must be in good physical condition able to lift 50 pounds occasionally, work in various body positions under sometimes severe weather conditions, work in attics, crawl spaces, and other confined spaces as well as on ladders. Must be able to deal with stressful situations with a level head. Must be prudent, ethical, professional and credible and use good judgment. Preferred OSHA 10 or 30 certification. Trade school or technical training in HVAC. Experience working with builders or GC partners on residential projects (new construction or high‑end custom homes). Knowledge of local mechanical codes and permitting requirements. Mass Div. of Occupational Licensure Sheet Metal License preferred.
