Project Manager - Drinking Water | Tampa, FL

The Opportunity

\n

A well-established, employee-owned engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking a Professional Engineer / Project Manager to join its growing Water team in Tampa, Florida .

\n

\n

This role will focus on the delivery of municipal drinking water projects , working closely with clients, technical teams, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders from initial planning through design and construction.

\n

\n

The position offers a flexible remote/hybrid working arrangement , with an expectation of approximately 2-3 days per week in the office or at client sites. Some regional travel will be required, generally around 20%.

\n

\n

What You’ll Work On

\n

Projects may include:

\n

\n
• Drinking water distribution system planning, modelling, capacity analysis, and design
\n
• Water treatment plant upgrades and improvements
\n
• PFAS treatment initiatives
\n
• Lead and Copper Rule compliance projects
\n
• Water system planning and capital improvement programs
\n
• Construction-phase engineering and project support
\n

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead municipal drinking water projects from planning and design through construction.
\n
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, contractors, and project partners.
\n
• Develop project scopes, technical approaches, schedules, budgets, and delivery strategies.
\n
• Monitor project performance, milestones, costs, and deliverables.
\n
• Serve as a key point of contact for municipal clients and develop long-term relationships.
\n
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and field personnel during construction.
\n
• Perform and coordinate technical QA/QC reviews.
\n
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and permitting authorities.
\n
• Support proposals, fee development, scopes of work, and business development initiatives.
\n
• Assist with resource planning and project staffing.
\n
• Contribute to technical standards, design guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
\n
• Represent the organisation at client meetings and industry events.
\n

What We’re Looking For

\n

\n
• 7+ years of consulting engineering experience, preferably within municipal drinking water.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering , or a related discipline.
\n
• Active Florida PE license , or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity.
\n
• Strong understanding of municipal drinking water systems, including treatment, distribution, planning, and design.
\n
• Proven project management experience across multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.
\n
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations, permitting, bidding requirements, and infrastructure funding programs.
\n
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
\n
• Experience developing proposals and project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
\n
• Strong client-facing and relationship-building capabilities.
\n
