Apprentice Electrician

Harris Electrical Contractors – Raleigh / Triangle, NC

Harris Electrical Contractors is looking for an Apprentice Electrician who wants to build a long-term career in the electrical trade.

You do not need to know everything coming in. We are looking for someone who is dependable, works hard, takes instruction well, and genuinely wants to become a skilled electrician.

This is a hands-on field position working alongside experienced electricians on residential service, electrical installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and other electrical projects.

For the right person, our goal is not to keep you as a helper. We want to develop you into an electrician who can eventually troubleshoot electrical problems, perform installations independently, run a service truck, and take on greater responsibility within the company.

• Assist experienced electricians on residential service calls and electrical projects

• Install receptacles, switches, lighting, boxes, wiring and electrical equipment

• Assist with panel replacements and service upgrades

• Assist with running and pulling wire and cable

• Learn proper electrical troubleshooting techniques

• Learn how residential electrical systems operate

• Learn NEC requirements and proper installation methods

• Load, organize and maintain tools and materials

• Help maintain clean and organized service vehicles

• Set up and clean up jobsites

• Use hand tools, power tools, ladders and electrical equipment safely

• Protect customers' homes and maintain a clean work area

• Follow company procedures and safety requirements

• Learn from experienced electricians and apply that training in the field

Electrical experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate .

• Can safely work from ladders and in attics, crawlspaces and other typical residential environments

• Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

• Can pass applicable pre-employment requirements

Previous construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, maintenance, military, mechanical or other skilled-trade experience is a plus.

$18–$24 per hour , depending on experience and current electrical skills.

We believe increased skills should lead to increased responsibility and earning potential.

An apprentice who demonstrates strong electrical knowledge, troubleshooting ability, customer service skills, productivity and reliability can progress into an Electrician and eventually Residential Service Electrician position.

Our experienced service electricians have opportunities to earn significantly more through increased responsibility and performance-based compensation.
