Welcome to Cantina Taco Grill , a brand-new, family-owned restaurant opening soon in Naperville! While this location is fresh, our family brings over 25 years of restaurant industry passion, tradition, and hospitality to the table.
Position Overview
As a Kitchen Assistant , you will play a crucial role in keeping our culinary operations running smoothly. You will support our kitchen line, prep team, and management by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organizing inventory, and ensuring high standards of food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Assist cooks by chopping vegetables, prepping proteins, preparing fresh salsas, and portioning ingredients according to restaurant standard recipes.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, including counters, cutting boards, equipment, and storage areas.
- Dishwashing & Sanitation: Wash, dry, and restow pots, pans, utensils, dishware, and kitchen equipment.
- Inventory & Stocking: Help receive incoming food orders, rotate stock using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) standards, and notify management of low inventory.
- Trash & Recyclables: Safely empty trash cans, recycling containers, and grease traps as needed throughout shift.
- Line Support: Assist prep cooks and line cooks during peak rush periods to ensure orders go out quickly and accurately.
- Food Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all local health department guidelines, safe food handling procedures, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior kitchen, prep, or dishwashing experience is a plus, but we are excited to train the right candidate!
- Knowledge of basic food safety and knife handling practices preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation to Naperville, IL.
- Flexible availability (morning, evening, or weekend availability needed).
