Fire or Security Systems Specialist

As a Systems Specialist, you'll lead the physical installation of communications systems on project sites, including running the day-to-day work, guiding a crew, and making sure every job meets CEC's standards for safety and quality.

It's hands-on work for people who'd rather be on-site than behind a desk. It's also a place to grow-many of our systems technicians go on to become master technicians and engineers, and we back that path with training and certifications you can earn on the job.

What You'll Do

No two projects look quite the same. Here's where you'll typically spend your time.

• Lead the daily install plan on-site, keeping the work safe, on schedule, and up to CEC's quality standards
• Review project details, plans, and milestones with the team and the customer before work begins
• Run site walk-throughs to confirm locations and identify safety hazards
• Inspect installations, correct issues, and mentor team members so problems don't recur
• Handle basic programming and configuration, and connect systems to the network as assigned
• Build punch lists, test systems, coordinate customer training, and finalize documentation
• Close out projects with customer walk-throughs and sign-off
• Support service tickets and CEC's 24/7 on-call rotation as assigned

Required

• 5+ years of technology experience at CEC or a similar company
• 1+ years of leadership experience
• Strong communication skills and a solid grasp of general construction or mechanical work
• Knowledge of communications systems-audio, video, security, fire alarm, wireless, and data networks
• Comfortable with a Windows PC environment (Excel a plus)

Preferred

• Safety-related certifications
• Industry certifications such as NICET, BICSI, or CTS

If you don't have every certification yet, many industry certifications and trainings can be earned during your first year on the job.

• The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
• Lifting of objects is required, up to 50lbs.
• Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities are also required.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
