Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position requiring Cardiac PCU experience and comfort with 1:5 patient ratios on night shift.

Details

• 30-private bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care department operating 24/7
• Rooms remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7p-730a
• Weekend rotation required with holidays as needed
• Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise 1:5
• Nurse assistants available 24/7 and RN secretary support 7a-11p
• Uses EPIC EMR
• May be floated to any Cone Health campus as needed
• Primary focus on cardiac patients (CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac cath, MI rule-out, pacemaker placement) with secondary focus on respiratory conditions (COPD, pneumonia, BiPAP)

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Cardiac PCU experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, peripheral and PICC line management, procedural sedation administration, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams experience preferred
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
• Valid driver's license required for address verification

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for cardiac and respiratory progressive care patients including monitoring, drip management, and procedural support
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
