Medical Assistant

A Medical Assistant supports physicians and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of a medical facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Perform basic laboratory tests
• Administer medications as directed by a physician
• Assist with minor procedures
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and restock supplies

Administrative Duties:

• Schedule appointments and manage patient records
• Greet and check in patients
• Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
• Complete insurance forms and handle billing
• Update patient medical histories and input data into electronic health records (EHR)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
• Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) often preferred or required
• Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required
• Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Knowledge of clinical procedures and medical office protocols
• Compassionate and patient-centered mindset
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
