Cash Register Operator

Operates cash registers to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently. Handles cash, credit, and check payments, provides customer service, assists with returns and exchanges, and maintains a clean and organized checkout area. Ensures compliance with store policies and procedures while promoting a positive shopping experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Records all transactions and handles all paperwork being processed to the accounting department.

• Performs inventory counts, restocks shelves, unpacks shipments, makes deliveries and prepares orders for shipment.

• Conducts over the counter sales of merchandise.

• Assists manager in general housekeeping and maintenance of stockroom.

• Responsible for balancing cash register at the end of shift and reporting any shortages immediately.

• Maintains store operations in the absence of the manager.

• Takes phone orders from customers.

• Writes legibly.

• Channels communications to appropriate personnel.

Minimum Required Education

At least 18 years of age with High School Diploma or equivalent within one year of hire.

Minimum Required Special Skills

Moderate to advanced computer and data entry skills.
