Educational assistance and reimbursement available after a year of service This is a position for a four year Mechanical Maintainer – Mobile Equipment Apprentice, with continued employment as a Mechanical Maintainer – Mobile Equipment after the apprenticeship is completed. Employees in this position are responsible for but not limited to the following: Receive work assignment, instructions, drawings and sketches for diagnosis, repair, and preventative/predictive maintenance of heavy mobile equipment to include locomotives. Analyzedrawings, sketches, schematics, diagnostic equipment, planworking procedure, and determinetools and equipment needed for the completion of assigned work. Work in the shop or field as required. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems. Perform preventative & predictive maintenance on mobile heavy equipment. Mobile heavy equipment consists of both diesel & gas power plants, fans, blowers, mechanical power transmission, pumps, hydraulic components, electrical systems and other mechanical components. Troubleshoot, dismantle, clean, inspect, rebuild, repair, replace, install, assemble, adjust, align, and lubricateheavy mobile equipment and related components. Operateoverhead electric crane and mobile equipment to lift and transport materials. Operateheavy mobile equipment for pick-up and delivery. Performmiscellaneous work such as filling out standard forms, lubricating equipment, rigging parts & equipment for movement or lifting, and keeping tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Could workstraightafternoons, midnightsor swing shifts. Minimum requirements include: High School/GED and 1 year of experience working as a mechanic on heavy mobile equipment or completed a trade/vocational school on locomotive repair. Preferred experience includes: High School/GED and2+ years’ experience working as a mechanic on heavy mobile equipment or completed a trade/vocational school on locomotive repair.
