What the Client is Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
- 4-5+ years of hands-on Databricks experience
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience building and supporting data pipelines and enterprise data solutions
- Ability to troubleshoot and triage data issues independently
- Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
- Able to work proactively with limited direction
- Capable of leading projects when needed
Nice-to-Have Skills
These are not requirements but would be beneficial:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Additional Azure ecosystem experience
- AI/ML data preparation experience
Manager noted that ADF is not currently used heavily but familiarity with it is advantageous.

The ideal candidate is:
- A Databricks-heavy Data Engineer
- Comfortable in a Lakehouse environment
- Strong in SQL and Python
- Retail and merchandising savvy
- Able to communicate effectively with business partners
- A proactive self-starter who can hit the ground running
- Someone who can own problems rather than wait for direction
