Metal Prep Technician - Weekend ShiftLocated in West Valley City, UTFull TimeShift: Weekend Shift - 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Friday- Sunday) Position Description At SilencerCo, our Metal Prep Technicians play a crucial role in preparing manufactured parts to achieve a high-quality, Deburr, Heat Treat, clean and properly prepare parts for coating. This role focuses on manual Deburring, Tumbling, Heat Treating, Washing, and Sandblasting. Key Responsibilities Visual Inspection – Inspect parts for imperfections, such as dings, dents, scratches, weld flaws, and any other common issues found in most Metal Finishing related jobs. All products must be thoroughly inspected before and after completion. Surface Preparation – Perform deburring, sand blasting, and other pre-treatment processes to ensure proper adhesion and finish. Process Monitoring – Maintain equipment, and regularly inspect machines for leaks or obvious wear and tear Routine Maintenance – Conduct regular upkeep of the department, Clean up regularly, and follow the 5S guidelines we have set in place. Problem-Solving – Identify and troubleshoot Metal Prep related issues, evaluate solutions, and implement corrective actions. Data Collection & Quality Control – Used process control measurements and collected data to ensure the process effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Safety & Compliance – Follow all SilencerCo safety standards and procedures, including handling of chemicals, PPE requirements, and injury prevention protocols. General Metal Prep Tasks – Assist in other metal preparation duties as needed as well as assisting with finish processes when necessary. ResultsTeam completion of priority ordersValue produced (by operator)Safety: Does the employee actively identify and eliminate hazards within the workplace.Quality: Does the employee ensure products or services consistently meet high standards and customer expectations.Delivery: Can the employee keep up with demand and ensure the product is being delivered on time.Cost: Does the employee regularly take part in improvement projects that reduce the cost of production. Qualifications & Skills Preferred: Experience with metal finishing processes. Ability to operate complex hand tools and industrial equipment. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Effective time management and ability to work both independently and in a team. Willingness to adapt to process improvements and changes. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and quality control. Comfort using power/air tools for extended periods. Familiarity with SilencerCo products is a plus. Required: Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, part prints, process documentation, and work center guidelines Pass a background check (Which is initiated upon extension and acceptance of a job offer.)
