For over 75 years, Wilkinson Companies has supported commercial and industrial heating and mechanical operations throughout the region. We’re looking for a Purchaser to help keep materials, equipment, and supplies ready for our service, installation, and mobile boiler teams. This role works closely with field associates, warehouse staff, and vendors to place accurate orders, track deliveries, solve supply issues, and support jobs with changing priorities.

What You’ll Do

• Obtain quotes, process material requests, and place and track purchase orders.
• Coordinate deliveries with vendors, the warehouse, and field teams to support project schedules.
• Follow up on backorders and resolve order, pricing, delivery, warranty, and credit issues.
• Monitor inventory and help track job materials and equipment.
• Build strong vendor relationships and look for ways to improve cost and purchasing processes.
• Based on experience, manage an assigned purchasing program such as fleet, tools, or a product line.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or construction. Equivalent experience coordinating materials, vendors, and orders for field teams will also be considered.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Clear communication and the ability to shift priorities when field needs change.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing, inventory, or ERP systems.
• A team-first approach and a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education is welcome, and relevant experience is valued.

You keep orders organized, follow up before delays become problems, and communicate clearly with the people waiting on an answer. You’re comfortable comparing quotes, working with vendors, and checking the details that affect cost and delivery. You also understand that purchasing decisions have a direct effect on our crews’ ability to serve customers.

Experience with plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical materials would help you get started. As you grow in the role, you’re ready to take ownership of a purchasing program and find practical ways to improve how it runs.
