Mining Engineer - Graduate

This includes using site procedures and processes to conduct specific tasks under the direction of Senior Engineers, and includes working in office and/or Underground workplaces.Duties includeIn your first year, you will work underground as an operator on a 28 days on, 14 days off roster - learning all different positions in the mine. In the second year, you will work as an engineer in the surface offices on a 15 days on, 13 days off roster.Create mining instructions for the direction of operational activities including development instructions, drilling designs, blast plans, etc.Conduct post mining reconciliation reviews.Conduct mine area inspections to ensure mine instructions have been executed and quality aspects are in line with expectations.Conduct mine inspections/surveys to record the mine operating environmental conditions and report findings to senior operational personnel (e.g., ventilation surveys, monthly area inspections, etc.).Develop short‑term mining schedules and present these to the technical and operating team.Participate in daily crew safety meetings.What are we looking for?You'll be a highly motivated individual who will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.The specifics:Degree majoring in Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.Current Driver's License.Minimum 1‑year relevant experience in the mining industry or proof of mine site intern work.Computer literacy Microsoft Office (extensive Excel skills is a requirement).Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all engineering tasks.Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.Be able to pass a background check and post‑offer physical.Working 28 days on, 14 days off roster whilst working Underground, and a 15 days on, 13 days off rotating schedule whilst in the engineering office, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi‑Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi‑Fi.
