About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 48 Experience: Minimum of 2 years current Intermediate/Step Down experience. License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Must-Have: - Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing. Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports and is accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance in the revision of plan of care. Participates in discussions with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plan. Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and those at high risk for discharge planning in a timely manner. Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisor. Is knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra and interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems. Promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to co-workers. Is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment. Promotes safe, clean, and secure hospital environments for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful whole prior to communication. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs. Collaborates with patient and family to prepare or update the plan of care. Makes use of multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Uses full range of communication to convey planning. Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Reads journals that contain studies or articles applicable to practice. Brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
