Orientation And Mobility Specialist
Step into an impactful contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting the success of a 3rd-grade student with low vision. In this rewarding role, you'll collaborate closely with a virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to deliver personalized orientation and mobility (O&M) services in a school setting near Newbern, TN. Your expertise will empower a young learner to navigate their environment confidently and independently. Through professional guidance in cane techniques, orientation skills, and customized mobility training, you'll help enrich both the student's safety and their overall educational experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience providing O&M services in educational settings, preferably with elementary-aged students
- Proficient in low vision strategies and adaptive cane training
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills, especially in partnership with remote educators
- Strong commitment to fostering student growth and independence
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized O&M plans
- Conduct one-on-one training sessions focused on safe, effective mobility
