Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the PCU/Telemetry unit is responsible for evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. This position involves assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, performing various patient tests, and administering medications in accordance with nursing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patient care needs based on nursing standards and clinical judgment.
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans to promote independence and educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care and improve patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and education to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

• Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in a PCU or telemetry setting.
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records system.
• Capability to handle cardiac drips and familiarity with procedures such as TAVRs and Watchman mitral clips.

Work Schedule

This is a night shift position, requiring three 12-hour shifts per week, with a rotation that includes weekends. The role may require floating between departments and multiple locations within the region.

Additional Information

This unit functions as a step-down area from the ICU, thus RNs in this role should possess a strong ability to manage complex patient care needs and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
