Human Resources Support Specialist

Our client, a leading industry provider, is seeking a skilled and proactive Human Resource Support Specialist for a direct-hire position . This role is pivotal in managing day-to-day HR compliance, driving hourly recruiting, and supporting a dedicated unionized workforce. DOT & Regulatory Compliance Driver Qualification Files: Build, audit, and maintain complete Driver Qualification (DQ) Files in strict compliance with DOT and FMCSR standards. Driver Monitoring: Conduct routine reviews of Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), track medical certifications, and ensure timely renewals. Regulated Personnel: Oversee compliance tracking and drug/alcohol testing programs for all DOT-regulated employees. 2. Union & Employee Support Labor Relations: Support day-to-day administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance logging, and union correspondence. Employee Engagement: Serve as an approachable point of contact for hourly union workers, fostering clear communication and safety-first alignment. 3. HR Compliance & Records Regulatory Adherence: Ensure company policies align with local, state, and federal labor laws. File Audits: Maintain organized, audit-ready employee files and HR records. Talent Acquisition: Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and skilled trade roles—from sourcing and screening to conducting interviews. Onboarding: Facilitate structured orientation sessions and new-hire paperwork to ensure high retention from day one. Candidate Requirements Must-Have Qualifications: Union Experience: Direct experience working within a unionized environment and supporting labor agreements ( Required ). DOT Compliance Expertise: Hands-on experience managing DOT compliance, including Driver Qualification files, MVRs, medical certs, and regulated employees ( Required ). HR Compliance: Strong, practical knowledge of HR compliance practices and labor laws ( Required ). Recruiting & Onboarding: Proven track record in hourly talent acquisition and structured onboarding ( Required ). Strongly Preferred: Bilingual Spanish: Fluency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred and will add significant value to the team. Industry Experience: Background in manufacturing, construction, building materials, transportation, or logistics supporting hourly union workforces.
