Job Summary Under the direction of the CV Director‑Cardiopulmonary or System Director‑Cardiopulmonary in the lack there of, the Respiratory Supervisor coordinates and executes the activities of staff within the CV Respiratory Therapy Department or staff assigned to special teams/programs. The Supervisor is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating all aspects relating to patient care. The Supervisor determines what skill level of staff member is needed to maintain unit or program needs, utilizing evidence based information. The Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the pillars of excellence (Finance, Delivery, Quality, Patient/Employee Experience, Safety, and Growth) into their job performance. The Supervisor is able to function independently and may on occasion provide direct patient care according to the needs of the unit or program. The Supervisor shall assist the Director‑Cardiopulmonary/System Director Cardiopulmonary in executing HonorHealth’s vision, mission and values, exceeding the expectations of all customers/stake holders associated with the CV Respiratory Department. Essential Functions Finance: Responsible charges accurately documented in electronic medical record. Maintains staffing levels which meet or exceed WHOUPS goals. Maintains a supply par level for all equipment. Composes and manages the department schedule to meet all obligations, productivity levels and program requirements. Delivery: Conducts huddles reviewing department operations, patient care, and communication requirements. Maintains appropriate supply and equipment levels. Supports Sepsis Alert Team staff as required to meet bundle compliance and program obligations. Supports Vascular Access Team staff as necessary to complete required duties. Acts as a resource in all modalities of Respiratory Therapy and designated programs. Quality: Stays informed and up‑to‑date on all new and evolving policy, procedures and processes. Shares best practices, equipment, staffing, supplies and processes to promote consistency, collaboration and standardization. Maintains and updates DMS Huddle Board/Problem Solving Board. Maintains department employee licensure, competencies and certifications. Patient/Employee Experience: Conducts purposeful rounding throughout the facility on both patients and staff, resulting in real‑time problem solving and developing trusting relationships. Rounds daily with Sepsis Alert Team to discuss SEP‑1 Bundle Compliance. Provides effective employee evaluations and reviews. Works with the Director to increase Department Employee Engagement. Acts as department advocate in assigned committees or organizational programs. Safety: Updates and maintains risk event reporting. Works with Director to promote departmental safety. Collaborates with system educators in developing accurate competencies for all staff. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates safety initiatives. Growth: Provides innovative ideas for enhanced efficiencies and service line opportunities. Collaborates with staff to implement ideas and suggestions for improvement and growth opportunities as brought forth by the department. Performs other duties as assigned. Acts within the ACT team. Education Master’s Degree in Healthcare or Business – Preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business or Education – Required. Experience 5 years clinical experience in an acute‑care facility with one (1) year of lead experience – Required. 7 years clinical experience in an acute‑care facility and three (3) years of lead experience or two (2) years of Vascular Access Insertion experience – Preferred. Licenses and Certifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required. Vascular Access Board Certification (VA‑BC), Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) or Neonatal & Pediatric Specialist (NPS) – Preferred.
