Substitute CustodianThe Substitute Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment on an as-needed basis. This position supports daily building operations by performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and setup tasks to ensure a positive learning and working environment for students and staff.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAbility to follow directions and work independentlyAbility to perform physical tasks related to custodial dutiesDemonstrates reliability, punctuality, and professionalismEssential Duties and Specific Responsibilities:Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dustingClean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areasEmpty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properlyReplenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paperSet up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activitiesAssist with minor maintenance tasks as assignedFollow established safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicalsReport maintenance issues, safety concerns, or building needs to supervisorSecure building areas as directed, including locking doors and checking facilitiesMaintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with staffPerform other duties as assignedSkills and Abilities:Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a school environmentBasic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipmentAbility to follow safety procedures and directionsAbility to work independently and complete assigned tasksStrong attention to detailOther Skills and Abilities:Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and suppliesAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periodsDependability and flexibility to work varying shifts as neededCommitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming school environmentWorking Conditions:School environment; may require evening shifts or varied hours depending on building needsWork involves exposure to cleaning chemicals and physical activityTerms of Employment:On-call position; hours vary based on district needsSelection Procedure: Qualified candidates will be contacted by the appropriate building administrator.
