Medical Science Liaison, Oncology (Northern CA, OR, WA, MT, ID) Brief Description: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific extension of US Medical Affairs. Responsibilities include developing relationships with medical thought leaders, providing medical information through scientific exchange, and delivering clinical/scientific support. Territory: Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana. Essential Functions / Responsibilities: Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and HCPs; develop/execute territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs. Identify and communicate clinical/research insights from KOLs; support medical education via presentations, investigator meetings, conferences, advisory boards, and regional meetings. Provide scientific support for congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training. Maintain deep therapy/product knowledge; act as a scientific expert; communicate emerging data objectively. Provide clinical presentations in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate). Support data generation activities (company-sponsored studies, collaborations, ISTs). Contribute to US Medical Plan, provide input to local strategies/tactics, and manage relevant budgets (as needed). Collaborate cross-functionally for Key Account Management; support activities aligned with the Medical Plan (advisory boards, speaker development, clinical trials). Required Education/Experience/Licenses: Advanced degree (PharmD/MD/PhD or equivalent) + 3+ years in the therapeutic area of interest. License (RN/NP/CNP/PA or equivalent) + Master’s degree (or equivalent) + 5+ years clinical practice. 2+ years’ experience as an MSL or comparable role. Field role: travel 60–70%; valid driver’s license; live within 60 miles of a major airport. Required Skills: Analyze and communicate complex scientific/medical data; clear communication/presentation. Planning/organization with detail; strategic mindset; autonomy; flexibility/results focus. Negotiation; relationship building/networking; teamwork. Digital tools/platform proficiency; excellent spoken English. Preferred: Oncology experience; trust-building with opinion leaders; knowledge of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel; geography/healthcare environment expertise; prior MSL success.
