Responsibilities include but are not limited to classroominstruction, day-to-day program operations, assisting studentstoward successful term-by-term progression, managing thecurriculum, advising students, hiring and evaluating faculty,creating quarterly schedules, providing budget recommendations, andensuring CACREP standards and the South University Mission areupheld in all areas of the program. The Program Director engages inprofessional associations, businesses, and the local community asnecessary to promote the visibility and stature of the program. TheProgram Director abides by the mandates set by the South UniversityBoard of Trustees, Chancellor, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs,the Campus President or Director, and the Campus ExecutiveCommittee. The Program Director contract is for 12 months with aspecified number of PTO days. KEY JOB ELEMENTS: Serves as campus leader of the Clinical Mental Health Counselingprogram, responding to all academic matters and expendituresrelated to the program. Performs instructional duties as assigned and outlined in theFaculty job description and in accordance with the provisions ofFaculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook. Selects and develops a Program Advisory Council (PAC) that meetsat least twice per year. Participates in faculty development each year as required. Selects, trains, develops, manages, and leads faculty accordingto the guidelines provided by the Campus Director/Dean of AcademicAffairs and Retention, the Department Chair, and in accordance withthe policies and procedures of the University/Campus andCACREP. Collects data for Key Performance Indicators, submits quarterlystudent evaluation forms for all students, and participates informal evaluation of students as indicated in the Graduate StudentHandbook and Clinical Handbook. Partners with the campus leadership (President, Director and/orDean) to generate a strategic enrollment plan for theprogram. In partnership with campus leadership, develops and supports aplan for outreach activities to generate a prospective student poolsufficient to sustain and grow the program, consistent with thestrategic enrollment plan. Collaborates with academic counselors, admissions, financialaid, and student services personnel to assist with enrollingqualified students. Effectively administers and grows the program(s) includingcurriculum development, program assessment, studentregistration/advisement, and community and campus relations. Supports and executes University initiatives designed toachieve student completion rates as outlined in the University’sstrategic planning. Collaborates with the college Dean, Department Chair, andfellow Directors concerning scheduling, sharing faculty, curriculumand other issues to support student learning and facilitateefficient resource use. Notifies the College Dean and Department Chair of any expectedor unexpected substantive change within the program and of anychange in institutional or programmatic accreditation status orlegal authority to provide postsecondary education. Facilitates the submission of required programmatic reports anddocumentation, including graduation rates, program assessment,performance on state licensing or certification examinations, andemployment rates. Provides leadership to core and non-core faculty in theClinical Mental Health Counseling program; complete yearlyevaluations of core faculty members; and complete yearly classroomobservations for core and non-core faculty members. Supports College-level initiatives and directives to maintaincompliance with accreditation and state regulatory criteria andadhere to all University and campus policies and procedures. In theabsence of a Department Chair, partner with the College Dean tooversee accreditation activities. Participates in program-related Campus events as indicated,including New Student Orientation, Pinning, graduation, etc. Responds to all program related inquiries from prospectivestudents, university administration, accrediting bodies, and othercommunity constituents. Other responsibilities as determined by the Department Chairand/or College Dean. REQUIREMENTS: Earned doctoral degree in a counselor education program,preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or a related doctoraldegree with prior experience as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic yearbefore July 1, 2013. A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as instructor of record inmaster’s and/or doctorate-level face-to-face, on-ground clinicalmental health counseling instruction in a post-secondary or collegeinstitution. A minimum of two years prior management experience in highereducation or in another organization within the program director’sdiscipline. Membership in a professional association tied to the counselingprofession. Current state licensing/certification required (ex: LPC, LMHP,LMFT). Shows evidence of sustained professional development and renewalactivities related to counseling and evidence of professionalservice and advocacy in counseling. Ability to develop and complete projects without continueddirect supervision. Ability to read, understand, write, interpret, and implementaccreditation criteria and state agency regulations. Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from employees,students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic orbusiness community. Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academicand campus leaders,Clinical Mental Health Counseling Core Faculty - Program Directoruniversity leaders, and public groups. Experience with computerized administrative systems. Proficientwith the use of standard office applications on personalcomputers. Other requirements specific to the discipline. ENVIRONMENT: The individual must be able to travel out of the local area withsome overnight stays to participate in a variety of residencies,conferences, and meetings.
